Split is a city on the Adriatic Sea in Croatia, in the middle of Dalmatia. Croatia's second largest city. In 1797th Split became part of the Austrian Empire, but the other Dalmatian largest cities (Rijeka and Zadar) between the wars was in  Italy, Split became the main Yugoslav port. In 1944th 26th of October Split once again entered the war and at the end of the war the city was the temporary capital of Croatia. With the creation of the socialist Yugoslavia, Split became part of the Croatian Republic. There were several armed incidents. One of the frigate "Split" bombed the city of Split. In the  1992nd in January Yugoslav army left the city.
