Tampere is a city in south - central part of Finland, in the 1775th it was founded by Swedish king Gustav III and the 1779th year it was awarded with city rights. It is located between Nesijerva and  Pühajärve lakes. As the lake level difference is 18 meters, then Tamerkoski River, which flows through the city, historically has been a significant source of energy for domestic industry. Tampere is regarded as one of Finland's hockey sites. The city has two universities - the University of Tampere and Tampere University of Technology. Till 1990th Tampere's economy was based on metalworking and textile industries, but now the main economic sectors is the information technology and telecommunications.
